PM expresses condolences to Burma over cyclone

(BangkokPost.com) - Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej expressed condolences to the Burmese government after more than 10,000 people were killed by Cyclone Nargis that swept across Burma since Friday night.

"I would like to express my deep condolences after I learned about reports that Cyclone Nargis swept across Burma, causing damages to lives and assets," Mr Samak said. "As a representative of the Thai government, I would like to pass my deepest concern to the Burmese prime minister Thein Sein and the families that experience losses."

Mr Samak also said he hopes that the government could help restore the area affected by the cyclone quickly.
